Our mission is to teach our boys to grow up to be the men God expects them to be. As a byproduct, we will help the boys (and the fathers) understand their God given purpose and work together to develop the skills to fulfill that purpose.
Audience: Boys (10 years old and up) and fathers (with children 18 and under)
Plan of Action:
- Play-begin with a time of play, where boys and the dads can utilize the BIG Room resources (ping-pong, four square, pool tables, air hockey, etc.) to spend time playing together.
- Life Skill Lesson and Practical Application-introduce the boys to a wide variety of skills that will make them a well-rounded man. Lesson ideas include learning to cook, basic first aid, how to use tools, how to handle money God’s way, how to read your Bible, how to pray, trade skills [carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.], etc.). Take the lessons learned and where appropriate, apply the lesson with adult supervision.
- Bible Lesson-spiritual lessons focusing on their roles as sons and ultimately their role as a man. Ideas include learning God’s definition of manhood and His expectations of men and the study of Godly men from scripture and from the current day.
- Jiu-jitsu-learn how to defend themselves and protect others. Training provided by Brown Belt Instructor Thomas Getsinger. Mr. Getsinger is currently a Baltimore City Police Officer.
